TENDER GARLIC BUTTER STEAK AND POTATOES

When it comes to steak, we always crave one that is tender, juicy and flavorful! No one wants to bite into a steak and perhaps leave one tooth on there ?. As for a side, steak goes hand in hand with potatoes , some rice and what you may enjoy eating as well… there are really no rules set out to it. For me, I enjoy eating them with potatoes. They’re usually so freakin good!

I decided to use fillet steak for this recipe because of how tender it is and how fast it gets ready. There are different ways to eat your steak be it medium rare, well done and so on. I always go for well done because I prefer it being fully cooked.

WHAT YOU NEED :

(For the steak)

  • 1/2 kg of steak ; sirloin, fillet, tenderloin or flank that is sliced
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • Oil
  • 3 tablespoons of butter (separately)
  • 1 teaspoon of rosemary (chopped)
  • 4 cloves of garlic (minced)

Marinade

  • 1/3 a cup of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of oil
  • 3 tablespoons of hot sauce
  • Pepper

Potatoes

  • 8 large potatoes ( peeled)
  • Oil
  • 1 teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon of paprika
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper

Serves : 2

Prep time: 30 minutes

Cook time: 20 minutes

Method:

Steak

1. In a bowl, add your steak strip and the marinade ingredients . Set it aside and let it marinate for about 30 minutes.

2. Once the steak has marinated, in a pan, add in your oil and let it heat on medium heat.

3. Add in garlic, rosemary and butter.

4. Lay the steak strips on the pan and save the marinade for later.

5. Cook the steak for 4 minutes on each side until it’s browned perfectly

6. Right before the steak is done, add in your left marinade and stir it in. Cook it for one minute and you are done!

Potatoes

  • Slice your potatoes into wedges form
  • Season them with salt, pepper, paprika and turmeric
  • In a sauce pan, add in your potatoes and fill the pan with water 1/2 way
  • Blanch your potatoes for about 3-5 minutes . This will make the potatoes crispy on the outside and soft on the inside when cooked further

NB

DO NOT OVER BOIL THEM AS THEY MAY TURN INTO MASHED POTATOES AND WE DO NOT WANT THAT!

  • Once they have semi cooked, take them off
  • In a pan, add in your oil and let it heat. Then add in your potatoes and let them fry till ready and golden brown
  • Serve immediately and enjoy your meal!
  • Thank you for reading this post, see you on the next one folks!
